Guenter H. Richter, C.H.A., renowned luxury hospitality veteran, was appointed as Vice President and Managing Director of Miami’s premier luxury hotel, The Setai, Miami Beach, in April 2012, by Trevi Luxury Hospitality Group, the management company of The Setai, Miami Beach. Upon his appointment, Mr. Richter stated, “It is my goal to lead The Setai, Miami Beach to a new level of luxury and personal service that surpasses the expectations of our guests.”
A native of Germany, Mr. Richter’s expertise has an international reach, strengthened by numerous industry awards and accolades achieved throughout his hospitality career that spans more than 30 years.
In December 2012, Mr. Richter was honored with The Leading Hotels of the World prestigious Leading Legend Award. In the same month, he also was chosen by the internationally-renowned hotel critic, Heinz Horrmann, as one of Germany's "Top 10 Hoteliers Abroad 2013," presented by the German publishing house Busche, and as a nominee for “Top General Manager of a Luxury Hotel,” for Luxury Travel Advisor magazine’s annual Awards of Excellence list, hand-selected by an invitation-only advisory board, made up of influential travel advisors who have graced the cover of Luxury Travel Advisor.
Additionally, Mr. Richter holds the 2012 Outstanding Industry Professional” award by the Department of Hospitality Management at New York City College of Technology.
Mr. Richter was also proud to announce in November 2013 that The Setai, Miami Beach was voted as “The Best Hotel in Miami and Miami Beach” by readers of Condé Nast Traveler magazine, which was a nod to his – and The Setai team’s – dedication to luxury hospitality excellence.
Prior to his tenure at The Setai, Miami Beach, Mr. Richter served as managing director of The Setai Fifth Avenue in New York City, where he was responsible for the hotel’s successful 2010 launch in a highly competitive market. He has also held vice president, managing director and general manager roles for The Regent Bal Harbour, The St. Regis New York, The Drake Hotel in New York, Grand Bay Hotels and Resorts, as well as such outstanding luxury labels as the Hotel Bel-Air in Beverly Hills and The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas.
He holds a degree in Hotel Economics from the School of Hotel Management and Administration in Heidelberg University in Germany, and hospitality certifications from Cornell University in New York.
